Today, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau held a press conference to renew its appeal for the public’s help in the unsolved murder of 21-year-old Lanai Dees.

On November 17, 2024, Lanai was fatally shot while driving her vehicle through an alley near the 2000 block of West Century Boulevard in Los Angeles. Investigators believe a passenger in a dark-colored midsize SUV fired a single shot into her vehicle before the suspects fled the scene.

Nearly two years later, Lanai’s family continues to grieve the loss of their loved one while waiting for answers. Detectives remain committed to pursuing every lead and bringing those responsible to justice.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Lanai’s murder.

If you have information about this case, no matter how insignificant you believe it may be, please contact the LASD Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

Together, we can help bring justice for Lanai and provide her family with the answers they have been waiting for.
